Dr. Mhanni is a Clinician Scientist in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, in the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, Canada, and the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba. He is a is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, and a Fellow of the Canadian College of Medical Genetics and Genomics and a Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics.

Dr. Mhanni's clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and management of inborn errors of metabolism (IEM). His focus in clinical research has primarily been concerned with the advances in the diagnosis and treatment of these disorders. He completed an 18-month academic leave (2018/2019) working with colleagues in UAE focusing on developing new approaches to the diagnosis and management of Inherited Metabolic-Genetic diseases, and the development of local educational specialty programs.
